States of matter class 9 science

states of matter describe the distinct forms in which matter can exist.

Solid:

  • Particles are tightly packed and arranged in a fixed structure.
  • Definite shape and volume.

Liquid:

  • Particles are close but can move past each other, allowing flow.
  • Definite volume but takes the shape of its container.

Gas:

  • Particles are far apart and move freely.
  • No definite shape or volume—fills its container completely.
